Our Campaign is Coming to a Close Soon…

With our campaign coming to a close in just a few days, we would like to reflect on this experience and thank everyone who contributed. We have enjoyed every second of raising funds for such a great cause and helping local women learn how to live a successful life. We would like to reflect on our campaign and this experience overall for our final blog post. 

Touring the Hand Up for Women Property

Before our campaign launched, we had the opportunity to tour the Hand Up for Women property. We met some of the wonderful women who work so closely with this program. We enjoyed getting to tour the property where all of the women in their program come together twice a week for their group classes. We also got to hear about their plans to expand and improve their property, so that women in the program can have the opportunity to live there. We are so thankful for the experience to tour the property and meet some of the women involved with their program! 



Percentage Night

During our second week of our campaign being live, we were able to host a percentage night at Raising Canes. Raising Canes is a very popular on-campus restaurant. They are known for their chicken tenders, fries, and our group's personal favorite, toast! It was so great getting to host a percentage night at such a popular dining location for many students. We chose to sit by the line to order, so that we were able to tell the customers waiting to order about our campaign and Hand Up for Women. While some people were not interested in talking to us, many people showed interest in our campaign and were excited to help such a great cause. For example, we talked to an amazing mother-daughter duo about our campaign. They were extremely interested in helping Hand Up for Women and also asked us several questions about our campaign. The mother was excited to set a good example for her daughter by mentioning our campaign at checkout to help us raise money. They were so kind to us and we appreciated their interest in our campaign! We were able to raise $175 at our Raising Canes percentage night, so it was a success and greatly impacted our campaign! Thank you to everyone who came and showed their support!

PED Walkway Event

On November 20, we spent an hour on PED Walkway, which is a common walking area on campus for students, spreading information about our campaign. We offered Game-day Pins to those who stopped by our event, learned about our campaign, and donated $3. We had more people stop by then we were expecting, so this was an exciting opportunity for our group!

Our group wants to thank everyone who supported our campaign and showed interest in Hand Up for Women’s program these last six weeks. We have loved getting to share more about this wonderful cause and spreading awareness! Thank you for all of your support! As our campaign starts to wrap up and come to an end, we would appreciate any final support. We are so thankful that we have had this wonderful opportunity to crowdfund for Hand Up for Women. We encourage all of our supporters to continue to show interest and contribute to helping Hand Up for Women’s program in the future. As a group, we say THANK YOU for your contributions and support these last six weeks!

Introducing Vols for Women's Worth!

  Vols Put a Hand Up for Women: We Are Vols for Women’s Worth! Our Purpose We are “Vols for Women’s Worth,” a group of University of Tennessee students who are crowdfunding for Hand Up for Women. We are raising funds for the twelve women who are currently a part of Hand Up for Women’s program. This program gives women the opportunity to learn how to live life again, by teaching them basic life skills they may not know and connecting them with other women in similar situations to them. It costs $8000 for each woman to go through the program, and they pay nothing. We need your help raising money for these amazing twelve women! Order For a Cause!

  Order For a Cause! A percentage night that led to connections and strong bonds between women! Percentage Night and Raising Canes Overview Our group hosted our first percentage night at Raising Canes on October 29th! This was such a great opportunity for us to share about our campaign and meet so many people who were excited to help. Raising Canes is an on-campus restaurant that is very popular amongst many students. They are known for their delicious chicken tenders, fries and toast! We knew this would be a great place to host a percentage night because of the large number of students that go there each night.
